Emily & Chris Get Married! {Block Island Wedding Photographer}

This past August, I had the incredible pleasure of hopping the ferry to Block Island and spending the day documenting the marriage of Emily and Chris along with only their closest family members.   It was an intensely intimate, personal and absolutely perfect day right down to the last detail.  Emily and Chris embody authenticity, one of my most prized values and what I want my photography to always be about.  They dreamed up the perfect wedding for them, and nobody else.   Not too many people, not too much fuss, just a whole lotta love in every moment.   And, lucky lucky me, I got to be there to capture it all!

Before we get to the (many many) images from their union that I’m sharing in this post, I just want to say that, of course, photographing any wedding is a huge honor and a sacred commitment that I am making to the bride and groom (not as sacred as the one they’re making of course, ha).  But, for Emily and Chris’ day, I found that being one of only fourteen people present made me feel that much more in awe of what I was witnessing and made my being there feel even more special and unique.  And I also made such a great connection with them as a couple and individuals, because it so often just us — no huge wedding party, not tons of vendors swarming around — I got to spend a lot of time with just me, my camera and the two of them, or with just two handfuls of their family members.  I was essentially an honorary member of their family that day and, WOW, what an honor and a gift.

Emily and Chris, even in just a short amount of time, in the scheme of things, I can honestly say that I absolutely love you guys and all of your family members rock!  Thank you for trusting me to create forever memories from your wedding day.  It was one of the happiest and best days of my whole year, truly.  <3 <3 <3

Shout outs to the wonderful Koru Spa who did incredible hair and make-up, the Southeast Lighthouse that provided the stunning ceremony backdrop and the Hotel Manisses that served up a gorgeous wedding feast and drinks.

Without further ado, ON TO THE PICTURES!

This throw pillow at Koru summed up the whole day perfectly — “Simple is Beautiful” is so right!
